Tattoo removal cream website still defying ASA adjudication

Last October we featured a story about a Scottish web-based skincare firm that had been censured by the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) for making misleading claims. The issue centred around wording on the tattooremovalcream.co.uk website stating that “the LazerCream system is the simplest, most affordable and convenient of any tattoo removal method available in the world.” When the ASA ruling back in August found in favour of the complainant, the firm inserted the word ‘probably’ into the description of the product and also removed the world beating claims to assuage the ASA.

But it seems that, in September, another complaint was made to the ASA regarding the newly worded statements on the website. Still unable to provide the ASA with full clinical trial evidence that the product does what it claims, the company has again been told to remove the statements made about their tattoo removal cream. The ASA adjudication was dated February 1 2012 but as we write this blog, the claims are still visible on the tattooremovalcream.co.uk website.

Laserase is concerned that unless companies such as these are dealt with more forcefully, people will continue to invest their money in unproven tattoo removal products. The only way to ensure safe and effective treatment is to approach Care Quality Commission facilities such as our network of Laserase clinics. Laserase has been removing tattoos for nearly 20 years and will provide honest advice and safe treatments at all time.
